However, overproduction of sebum can lead to issues like acne. Most anti acne products on the market focus on drying out the skin. While this may be a quick fix, it creates a long term problem by triggering the skin to overcompensate with more sebum production. When sebum is being overproduced it forms a tight, hard barrier that harbors bacteria and inhibits healing of the skin.
